What a Glorious Day!

It's Saturday morning...I'm lounging on the sofa, my two doggies beside me, enjoying my morning java, and listening to the multitude of birds singing their hearts out in my back yard. What a glorious day it is already! My heart if full of gratitude and joy - especially on this day. You see, my son is getting married today.

Adam and Lindsey will be getting married at the Iditirod dog race in Anchorage, Alaska...yes...Alaska! Adam asked Lindsey to marry him on Christmas morning. We are more than thrilled to have her as a part of our family. They have been living in Alaska since last April after working on the train during the summer months.

Lindsey, will you marry me???

And she said...YES!

I remember oh so well that day in September of 2009...Adam texted me while we were still in Alaska (and he was living in Jacksonville at the time), and the text said..."I think I have met my future wife".... We knew it had to be someone extremely special for him to tell us that! Once we arrived home in October, we were introduced to this special young lady. Someone who had captured my son's heart. Lindsey has been such a blessing to all of us. She fits right in with the family - on some occasions, she has been goofier than Adam (and THAT is hard to do!).

With Adam leaving for Army boot camp at the end of this month, we knew that he and Lindsey would want to get married before his departure, even though it would probably be in Alaska. Though none of our family can attend today, our hearts and prayers are with them. They are planning on a big wedding ceremony and reception back in Jacksonville once he is out of boot camp and training.

I love them both more than words could ever express. I know that God has brought them together and my prayer is that the Lord blesses their marriage with many, many, happy years together - just like Rennie and I. Oh what a GLORIOUS day!!!

Moving Week Has Begun

Wow, Christmas has come and gone and now it's time to move on down the road - literally! We begin packing this week to move to Orlando. I begin my new job on January 4 and am looking forward to it. A dream come true!

I came upon this organizational blog today and I might say it was a God send..just in time! I am hoping that she will assist me in getting organized in my new home and hopefully I can keep it that way! I will be participating in her 21 day organizational challenge. With a Thankful Heart

It's the most wonderful time of the year...a time to reflect and remember the things that are most important in your life.

Over the past year, I feel as though I have been driving down a country road in the mountains with its ups and downs, curves and swerves, and sometimes bumps along the way. Country roads usually have two lanes, and take you much longer to travel than by highway. The scenery is usually picturesque, yet as a driver, you must always keep your eyes on the road - because you just never know what is around the next curve. There is always a bit of stress while traveling these country roads because of the unknown, so you have to focus, making sure you have both hands on the steering wheel in the ten and two position (as taught in Driver's Ed class), and for some reason I have to turn the radio down while driving in order to see better.

As 2010 began, we had spent several months trying to adjust from our summer in Alaska, praying and asking God what the next step was, yet heard nothing - crickets - noda! I call that, "sitting on the shelf" and my temperament does NOT like just sitting and doing nothing! I thought I was completely finished with teaching and was anxiously awaiting God to speak to me in an audible voice as to what the next journey would be. Still...crickets! What was the deal??

As I sat one day with a friend in Starbucks, thinking I was just "helping" her with some home school ideas, we began to discuss the possibility of me tutoring her daughter for a class. In my mind, I was thinking, "NO WAY", I am SO done with teaching. The more we talked the more ideas about what I would do keep flooding my brain AND heart. Before to long, I was agreeing to tutor her daughter for the school year. What? Teach again? Haven't I been around this mountain? Do I really want to go there? However, God knew the plans He had made for me for HIS purpose. So, I'm not really finished as a teacher? You've got to be kidding me!

As the school year began, I had to laugh...not only was I privately tutoring two students, I was teaching in a local group setting - three more classes. Okay God...what next? My leisure, yet stressful, drive down that country road turned into a roller coaster ride - especially when I got bit by the Black Widow Spider - which by the way, pulled the rug right out from underneath me for eight weeks (see previous posts for that explanation).

As the school year progressed, I was happy and content, knowing that for this season, I was back in the classroom again and really loving it! The students were awesome and I felt as thought I was back in the game.

To bring you up to date...God moves in mysterious ways sometimes and knows our future WAY before we do. I now have been hired by an incredible school in Orlando, as a teacher, and we'll be moving to that area at the end of December. I am still pinching myself about this one! What an honor it is to be affiliated with such a school as this one.

My son, Adam, has just been sworn in to the Army and will be leaving for boot camp at the end of March. We are extremely proud of him, however, my mommy heart is saddened at the thought of him being in the military...what if he gets deployed? I now know what every mother feels about their children serving our country and the unknown.

For this ride down my personal country road, I am grateful. Grateful that the Lord orders my steps, that He continually takes care of us, that He is our provider and healer, and He knows what is best for me - no matter "how I drive"... He gets to be the pilot, not me, and I feel safe!

I pray that you have a wonderful, blessed, Christmas season with your family and friends. Buckle your seat belts - I'm sure it will be a great ride!

FALL...My Favorite Season of ALL!

There is something so special to me about the season of fall. When I was a little girl, we lived next door to my paternal grandmother and grandfather. She and my grandfather would religiously take a trip to the Smokey Mountains each fall. Being the only grandchild at the time, I had the privilege of accompanying them each year. She would pack a picnic lunch of her famous iron skillet fried chicken, homemade buttermilk biscuits, and several small bottles of Coke. Our journey would begin early in the morning and we'd stop for lunch at a roadside pull-off on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The crisp air and the beautiful leaves in colors of rich crimson, gold and orange, was exciting to me. We would then travel in to Cherokee and Maggie Valley where we would stay the night. A visit to Ghost Town or the Cherokee village was always on the agenda the next day. My least favorite part was the visit to Cherokee village...you see, I was always afraid of the Indians! The would be dressed in their traditional clothing and that scared me to death! I think that grandmother got one photo of me standing pretty far away from a Chief. The funny thing about that photo was that was dressed so cute in a little frilly dress but had a corn cob pipe hanging out of my mouth and looking over at the Indian as if to say, "You just stay over there mister!"

Since my childhood, the Smokey Mountains have been my place of refuge, comfort, and a place where I escape to if I really need to think. Never has there been a place where I feel more at home, at peace, and full of joy. I miss the mountains when I don't get to visit each year, but I know that one day I will be there forever! So, for now, I think and dream of that special place and enjoy photos that remind me of my favorite season...FALL!

School is Underway - New Things Coming

My days of tutoring have begun and I am enjoying teaching once again. Of course the spider bite and the complications it has brought have put a bit of a damper on me racing out of the gate strong. I have had to limp along (so to speak) for four weeks now not feeling quite myself. I began the second round of antibiotics and steroids this past week. Hopefully, I will get stronger with this round and will not need any more medical intervention. I have felt sorry for my students because they have not gotten my absolute best yet...but they will SOON!

I long for creativity in my life and feel I am the most content when working on art and craft projects. After working on lesson plans and new unit studies over the summer, I put my artsy side on the back burner. Thinking about the Christmas season, which will seemingly be here next week, I want to create again. I plan on taking some classes at a local scrapbook store. I was telling Rennie, that I don't always want to be the teacher...I really like being a student and learning new things. I enjoy a new challenge! Hopefully, my final projects will look good enough for me to take a photo of and post here.

You Just Never Know

This has been an interesting week for sure! It all began last Thursday when I noticed I had a whelp on the left side of my forehead. Not giving it much thought, I ignored it and went on with my daily routine. I really didn't think much more about it until Sunday when the lymph nodes on that side of my head were noticeably swollen and the whelp begin to throb like a toothache. Still I kept on with my "to do" list for the day, but began to "favor" it a little more and the site begin to swell more and more. This is when I realized that I have probably been bitten by some varmint while I slept. Then I REALLY was panicked...OH MY GOODNESS...I got bit in my SLEEP....this thing may still be in or under my bed!

Tuesday brought on more distress as my body was fighting this infection brought on by venom. Tuesday night proved to be the worst ever. About 1:00 am, I began to feel sick and experienced stomach virus type symptoms....you know the kind...the kind you DON'T want to have in the middle of the night! Well, that tailspened me to call my doctor in the morning. Upon hearing my story, they wanted me to come in immediately.

Upon her examination, she agreed that I had been bitten by something with venom, but since I didn't see the actual insect, we could not determine what kind; but she guessed a possible Brown Recluse spider. She said that normally this would require a hospital stay for three days but we were going to treat it aggressively for the next three days and hopefully keep me from having to do that. I received two injections that day, and then had to return for two more days in a row for more. She wanted to re-evaluate it today and see what the next steps should be.

Today, I woke up with the upper portion of my eyelid swollen as though I'd been in a fight. I had to laugh, because this was just too weird! Even though I had a new issue, I felt that the antibiotics were beginning to do their repairs and the actual bite site was not as painful and swollen as before. The doctor agreed - Praise the Lord! She was very pleased with my progress and said I am now on the road to recovery. I do look like I've been shot in the head, but at least my hair covers it up and you can't really tell it's there unless you look up under my bangs.

I am grateful for the numerous friends (thank God for Facebook!) who prayed for me and had me on their church prayer lists. I give God all the glory for wisdom, direction, and healing. Looking forward....I am pushing onward to teach next week. I am so excited to be returning to the classroom - that has to be God, because I thought I would not be teaching anymore.

It just goes to show...you just never know who may be sleeping with you...

Up From The Dead...

Again, I can just imagine what you may be thinking regarding me and my blog since I haven't posted anything since May! May!!!! I was even shocked at myself to see that I had not posted for two months. I am terribly sorry and I pray that it won't be as long again!

Since May, a lot has come my way. Last spring I "retired" from teaching/tutoring...I thought! Even though I am still a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, the opportunity for me to tutor again has come my way (without me looking for it). I am very excited at the prospect of teaching again - which has come as a HUGE surprise to me. I will be independently tutoring as well as working in a Co-op here in town. The opportunities with this are endless and I know that God has good things in store not only for me, but my students as well. I had a friend post on my Facebook the other day, "Teaching is in your blood, Pamela. You are every color in the crayon box." I thought that was so sweet and her sweet words encouraged me tremendously!

So, I will not only continue stamping and posting cards, I will also be including some articles and photos of my new adventures with tutoring. Because of this new venture, I will be writing some unit studies for elementary grade levels as well as some literature units for middle school students. I will be making them available for purchase as a instant down-loadable PDF file! Of course, you will be notified when those are ready for the public.

There are other things that are in the works, like: Speaking at homeschool conventions again (so excited about that), speaking locally at support group meetings, and even working with my own grandchildren.

Now I have to be more organized that ever just to juggle all that comes my way. Until the next time, happy stamping and I hope to be blogging again real soon!

A Lot of Changes Coming My Way

It is amazing what can happen in a month, week, or day...I have a lot of changes that are happening in my life, however, I am still a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I know I have been a slacker in the posting department on my blog, but hopefully, I will be able to catch up soon. In the mean time...

A Wow Morning!

I was so honored and blessed today to be awarded the "Beautiful Blogger Award" from my sweet, beautiful friend, Cheryl (www.cherylswindow.blogspot.com). Needless to say I am so overwhelmed that she thought of me.

I remember years and years ago when Cheryl and I were serving together on the Board of Directors for the Florida Parent Educators Association - and we were on a much needed retreat. I was showing several ladies how to create a scrapbook page...Cheryl had never tried it before...Oh Boy, did I start something! She has bloomed into an amazing, creative scrapbooker/card marker, and blogger. I love seeing her beautiful creations and so wished we lived closer so we could hang out and I could pick her brain a bit! Thank you Cheryl, not only for your friendship, but sharing your creativity with so many people! You are such an inspiration to me!!!

To receive this award, I am supposed to list 7 things about myself, which has been very difficult for me deciding what to post, so here goes...
1. Even though I have lived in Florida most of my life, I was born in Guntersville, Alabama. A small town about 120 miles north of Birmingham. Guntersville is a beautiful lake town - most people own boats; especially sail boats. The lakes are filled each summer with beautiful sails and people skiing. I enjoy visiting my father, who still lives there.
2. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Rennie, for 31 years this year. He amazes me everyday how much he loves me. He is my biggest fan in all my endeavors and I am extremely thankful for him! We have two amazing children and three MORE amazing grandchildren. Rennie and I love to travel together. We say that we both have to live to be at least 150 years old in order to go to all the places we want to see.
3. I like most food - much to my determent - it is no wonder I have a ton of weight to loose! I am a serious "cake aholic" - I LOVE to eat cake - any type of cake, cupcakes, danish...it might as well have a skull and crossbones on it. My daughter is the most fantastic cake baker and this causes me much stress to resist anything she makes.
4. My favorite color is RED...red everything except roses...they are too common. I would have red (and just about do) in every room of my home. I so seldom wear red, but when I do, people tell me I look good in that color.    5. Even though I retired from teaching, I still enjoy teaching people how to craft. This is where my love of stamping comes in. One of my favorite current classes is working with a group of 12 year old young ladies.. We meet every Wednesday and I show them how to create a new item, such as a card or 3-D project. They are such delightful young ladies and I hope we can continue to work together. 6. I love mornings! I have always been a morning person and am at my best then. The window in my studio faces east - I often marvel at the sunrises while I am working.   7. I am the happiest when creating. I so enjoy coming up with new things - but often I get stalled when too many ideas go whipping through my head. I laugh and say that my brain looks like an old VHS tape on fast forward most of the time. Being the thinker I am sometimes is a curse more than a help. Now I must pass this award forward to 14 bloggers that I follow or that follow me. This is very difficult due to the fact that I follow 100's! Chocolate Bunny Basket

Good Morning! The weather cannot make up its mind here in Florida - one day is it Spring, the next, it is burrrrr cold! I think I am ready for Spring!

This cute basket is one that we will make Friday night at my Girl's Night Out event. The scallop edge background was cut using the Big Shot. I also used the Textured Impressions Folder on the pink printed background. I just LOVE this little Chocolate Bunny stamp. He/She is so cute nestled in the grass that was cut from the Designer Series Paper pack called, Shades of Spring.

No Longer MIA!

Hello Everyone,

I have completed my big project, the person I created it for LOVED it, and now I can move on to other projects and paper crafting.

I wanted to share some photos of a girl's Card Club that began yesterday. I meet with six, very talented, sweet young ladies, once a week on Wednesdays. Yesterday was our first meeting and everyone was so excited. Even though the girls had no previous experience with paper crafting, each one of them did a tremendous job! I have attached photos of the girls (we were minus one yesterday due to sickness :( I am looking forward to the next time!

Tic Tac Card

Good Thursday Morning! I'm am up at 5:00am just because I couldn't sleep. Don't really know what is going on with me, but I'm ready to face the day, especially since I have had at least one cup of coffee so far!

This is another quick card, using the Tic-Tac-Toe stamp from the "A Happy Heart" stamp set. An embellishment of brown glitter on two of the hearts makes the image pop just a small bit.

Pocket Card

This is a pocket card that I made the other day. The only thing different from others is that on the Tic-Tac-Toe stamp, I embellished the two hearts with red glitter. There is nothing new and exciting about this type of card, I just wanted to share it with you.

Note Pad Holder

Good Morning Everyone! I love mornings, especially Monday mornings for some reason!

This is a magnetic notepad that I purchased at Target in the $1 bin. It had the black/red/white flowers printed on it already and was tied at the top with a red bow. I took the magnetic strips off the back, as well as, removed the red bow - which I replaced with black and white gingham ribbon.

Today, I made a cover for it and thought it turned out cute. The dimensions and items used are listed below.

The dimensions are:
Red Cover: 7 3/4" x 8" - Score at 3 7/8" and 4 3/16"
Black Side Bar on the front: 7 3/4" x 2"
Scallop Edge: 7 3/4" x 1 1/2"
Inside Pocket (Black): 3 1/2" x 3 5/8" (White) 3 5/8" x 3 3/4"

I used the flower stamp from SU's A Good Egg and Versamark ink to stamp the background on to the Real Red card stock (it is really there - but you really have to look hard to see it). I chalked a shadow around the scallop edge on the front cover using Stampin' Pastels (Basic Black). The flowers were punched out from a die in my stash (amazing how they matched!). The white buttons are from SU's Buttons Latte and the black buttons were from my stash. The "notes" letters were also from my stash, purchased years ago and I'm just now getting around to using them. The ribbon I used was SU's 3/16" Black Gingham Ribbon.

Happy Friday! It is a BEAUTIFUL day here in Florida and I'm sitting in my studio working...what's wrong with that picture? Hopefully, after I post this today, I'll manage to break myself away from creating and enjoy the wonderful weather while I can.

Haiti Relief - How We Can Help!

Haitian Disaster Relief

Stampin′ Up! demonstrators have a long history of making a difference in the lives of others--especially when disaster strikes and the need is greatest. So it was not surprising that so many demonstrators have contacted us in the past week asking what the plan is for helping to provide relief for those who continue to suffer from the effects of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.
Here is the plan:
From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set ordered will be donated to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

I "Heart" You

Good Wednesday Morning! I wanted to participate in the Mojo Monday challenge and came up with this card. The stamped image is so old...I think about 15 years or more old! I just love his cute face and wanted to incorporate it in a card for Valentine's Day.

I stamped the image on SU Whisper White cardstock. If you have not tried this cardstock - it is WONDERFUL. It is extremely smooth and great to color on when you are using all types of inks and markers (except water colors). The "I Love You" stamp is from SU's, "A Happy Heart" collection.

Bee Encouraged

Bee Encouraged...something that everyone needs - encouragement, especially when most people have set new goals to achieve in the new year.

I created this card a while back but wanted to share it with you today. I paper pieced the bee hive, chalked it with Stampin' Pastels, layered in on to a black piece of card stock and then adhered Stampin' Dimensionals on the back side of it in order for it to pop up on the card.

The bee's are an old stamp in which I stamped three times - one for the wings, which I stamped on vellun and cut out, another on the Whisper White card stock background, as well as, on the hive, then another on a piece of yellow card stock. I cut the bee body out and placed in on top of the stamped image on the white. I also shaded the bottom of the bees with a bit of orange using the Stampin' Pastels.

Black brads were placed in each corner and I tied a piece of black and white ribbon with a bow around the white piece of card stock for an accent. The "encouraged" lettering were stickers from my stash that I have had for a bazillion years ago! (Aren't scrapbookers and stampers such hoarders???).

Blah Friday

It's a Blahhhhh Friday here in NE Florida today. It has been cold here, just as though I was still living in Alaska and is quite overcast today. I do love the cold tough and am keeping my fingers crossed that it will snow...I'll be keeping them crossed for a long time I think!

I have another simple card to post today. Again, I am using the A Happy Heart stamp set. I "scraplifted" this idea (sorry, I don't remember from where) and of course, added my own flair.

The finished card measures 7" by 3 1/2"

The Real Red center section of the card was stamped with Whisper White Craft ink - you may notice that I covered up the saying that was on the stamp. I simply took a piece of a Post-It note and cut it down so it would fit over the saying. After the stamp was inked, I removed the piece of Post-It, stamped the image on the card stock, then reapplied the Post-It to re-ink again (repeat, repeat, repeat). I then cut two pieces of Whisper White card stock and used the boarder scallop punch along each side and attached it to either side of the red card stock. I took a needle and pierced a hole in the center of each scallop.

For this card, I did chalk around the scalloped (using my brush method for control purposes) area with a magenta color as well as on the left side of each heart using Real Red. I don't know if you can see it well but I'm hoping in the pictures you can see. I think it added just a bit of dimensional touch.

Once is stamped the hearts using Real Red on to Whisper White card stock, I cut them out, re-mounted them on pink card stock and them cute them out again, leaving a small pink boarder. I attached them with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Wow, 2010! How time has flown over the last 10 years. My husband and I were enjoying our coffee this morning and I said, "I wonder what the next 10 years will bring," He said, "We'll be 60 and our granddaughter, Julia will be 16!" I almost spit out my coffee and laughed...that was NOT exactly what I was thinking when I said that. However, we reminised about the past 10 years and how fast time does fly by. Usually, I am so engaged with my "to do" list that I miss some precious moments. Moments I no longer want to take for granted!

As I reflect on this past year, I can see how God provided for us, protected us and also gave us many, many desires of our heart. I so want to continue to do what He has called me to do, make a difference in people's lives, and live life to its fullest. I will keep my goals before my eyes and continually look and work toward the "mark".

I hope that each one of you are blessed in 2010 and that you have the desires of your heart!

What's new for 2010?

I looked at my blog this morning and realized that I have not posted anything since the 15th! So sorry for that. The Christmas season was extremely busy for me and I just didn't realize that I had not posted anything. Well, I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

Now that Christmas is over, I begin to think of my goals for the new year - not only in my personal life but for my business as well. I like to set goals, not resolutions, because it gives me a target to hit - so to speak. Goals are good and best achieved when written down and kept before you. I like to write yearly goals, monthly goals, weekly goals and daily goals. Time slips by me when I don't have a daily goal and I tend to just waste time, floundering around. This week I will be writing those goals down and maybe sharing some with you, my visitors.

What are some of your goals? I'd love to hear about them.

Snowman Paper Pieced Notepad

Here is the paper pieced item I was talking about in my blog note earlier. My inspiration came from a painted suitcase that I have sitting by my fireplace. The original design is from a wonderful painter, Renee Mullins (Plum Purdy). The design in on top of a notepad holder (as seen in the second photo). I will include more details in my tutorial that I am hoping to film today or tomorrow. The tutorial may have to be in several sessions due to a large amount of instructions, but, we're going to give it a try!

Monday....Monday!

Good Morning,
I hope everyone is having a good morning. There is lots to do today - finishing my paper piecing project, taking the photo, filming my first tutorial on it (fingers crossed!), wrapping some gifts (we shopped in Alaska before returning home), and finally getting our Christmas photos taken tonight. It seems that every time we plan a family outing to have our photos taken, it rains! So...plan B it is...take them inside at our home.

I will post a creation in a little bit, I have to wait until the sun comes up for a better camera shot - it's a bit foggy this morning.

In the mean time, here's a photo of our tree and mantel. I collect snowmen and my husband said it looked as though a snowman exploded in our living room! Our tree is nine feet tall and hold a ton of ornaments that have been collected over our 30 year marriage. We actually could have a twelve foot tree in this room because of the vaulted ceilings, but Rennie said, "NO"! The photo with the suitcase is actually my inspiration piece for my new paper pieced card (to see later).

So I'm off and running...hopefully you'll see the project today!

Santa's Boot

Again, I am posting a non-stamping/card today. This Santa boot is attached to a 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 box, and can hold a few goodies. I used SU's Whisper White Craft Ink Pad to highlight around and on top of the boot, black and Dazzling Diamonds to the top and bottom of the boot, cut holly leaves out of a printed paper and shaded them with SU's Stampin' Pastels, and added buttons for the holly berries.

Anniversary and a Card

Today is my 30th wedding anniversary to my wonderful husband, Rennie. He is so amazing and just what I prayed for. I hope we get to spend at least another 30 years together!

The card is one that I did a while back while still working with a limited supply of Stampin' Up! products. The stamp set is SU's Season of Joy. Paper Piecing Challenge

Good afternoon everyone! I am posting a card that has nothing to do with stamping today. My first love, before stamping, was paper piecing. I paper pieced this card today, shaded it using Stampin' Up! Stampin' Pastels, and added some snowflake accents with quite a bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter here and there.

Now I want to challenge YOU. I have attached my snowman pattern. I want to challenge you to do your version of this card and post a link to my blog. To participate, just make a card using my paper piecing pattern (print patter - below), and upload it to your blog or online gallery. Then leave a link to your project using the Mr. Linky form at the bottom of this post, so we can come check out your creation. Poinsettias Galore

Happy Friday everyone! It is rainy and quite cool here in Jacksonville, but the nip in the air really makes it feel a bit more like Christmas - I think I'll have to put on a Christmas movie in a little bit while I'm working in my studio.

I made this card last night. The poinsettias are one of the many stamps from the SU Season of Joy stamp set. I stamped them using Real Red ink onto Whisper White and Real Red card stock, then again, using Old Olive ink on to Old Olive card stock. After cutting out each flower, I cut the Old Olive flower apart into three sets of two leaves, placing them around the backside of the red flowers. I added three gold brads in the center of each flower and then placed dimensionals onto the back of each one. I think the simplicity of the card adds to its beauty.

Santa Suit

Thank God for coffee...I finally was able to crank out something worth posting. This is my version of a Santa suit card. I got the original idea from another blog and tweaked it with my interputation. I used extra thick embossing powder on the belt portion to make it resemble leather...I guess I could call it "pleather". I embossed the buckle with silver embossing powder using a stamp from the Sweet Season stamp set. I used the scalloped boarder punch on the white portion of the suit and added Dazzling Diamonds around the edges. I know it is a simple card, but it was fun to create.

Good Morning!

Last night was a huge success - the ladies enjoyed themselves crafting, stamping and creating their Christams crafts. I'm looking forward to the next one on December 10th.

One thing about paper crafting is that it is not just card making. Paper crafting encompasses beyond the "box" so to speak and I think people are looking for innovative ways to make memorable gifts for people - not just for Christmas gifts but for birthdays, shower gifts, thank you's, and more. Being a member of my Cutting Edge Live! club will allow you to learn new ways to gift. I would much rather receive a gift that someone made me than anything they could purchase at a store. I wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! I am so blessed to have my family living near by and not spread all over the place. I am so thankful for my wonderful husband who has put up with me all these years, my two amazing children, Stephanie and Adam, my "Mr. Wonderful" son-in-law Joshua, and the greatest grandchildren on the planet, Julia, Andrew, and Peyton! God has truly blessed me with these people in my life!

Cutting Edge Live!

Brain Fried

I'm so brain fried today. I wanted to participate in the Mojo Monday 112 challenge, but had limited supplies to work with today. So, this is what I came up with. I know it is simple, but there again I was having to use my limited Stampin' Up! supplies (that I borrowed - Thank you Lee and Janet!). My demonstrator kit has not arrived yet, and I can't wait for it to get here!! Hopefully, it will arrive today or tomorrow.

A First Of Many Announcements

I am very proud to announce that I have become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. After my introduction to the world of stamping while living in Anchorage, Alaska, this summer, I began to frequent stampers blogs. Day after day I constantly came across wonderful projects and to my surprise most were connected to Stampin' Up! The demonstrators were amazing (not that other paper crafters aren't) but I fell in love with Stampin' Up! products and supplies. After contacting a local demonstrator here in Jacksonville, we met for several hours at a local Starbucks in which she answered all my questions and was so gracious and helpful (Thanks Janet!!!!).

Rennie and I discussed the possibility of me becoming a demonstrator, and we both felt that this was a wonderful fit for me - especially with my love of creating and my teaching/scrap booking background. Rennie also came up with some AWESOME ideas that are cutting edge and innovative for the stamping industry and can certainly be something new and exciting for me to share with my customers and paper crafters alike.

A Merry Little Christmas - Mojo Monday 111

Wow, I can't believe all the people that have posted to Mojo Monday already! This November challenge has proved to be a popular one.

My little bird is sweetly singing, "Have a Merry Little Christmas". I know he's a bit simple, but I am slowly learning this new craft (I'm a slow learner), acquiring supplies for projects, and have a long "Wish List" to purchase from. Unfortunately, my list keeps growing each time I visit a new blog. Everyone has such cute ideas AND unique supplies that taunt a newbie like me. Some days, all I want to do is surf the blogs and then run out and buy supplies - I need to win a lotto or something, ha, ha.

SOOOOO Excited!!!

Gingerbread Card

I wanted to share a card with you that I created over the weekend. I am compelled to paper piece from time to time and designed this gingerbread man. When I paper piece, I use chalks and a paint brush to shade all my pieces. This technique is what I taught at a local scrapbook store several years ago when paper piecing was quite popular. Using a paintbrush allows me to control the chalk easily and I can maneuver it around the project much better than using a Q-tip or sponge. (If you would like a tutorial on this, just let me know by leaving a comment on my blog. Once I have several people interested, I will be glad to post it for you.)

After trying numerous ways to make the icing on his arms and legs, I finally used a pair scalloped scissors - cutting out white card stock then highlighting them with Stickles. Finding just the right title was a bit frustrating. I didn't have any stamps that seemed appropriate, so I typed the title and made it into a tag, which seemed to work. The candy buttons were from my stash that I have had for five or six years (we all have that kind of stash, don't we???). The printed card stock was from the Basic Grey, Eskimo Kisses line.

I plan to make several of these cards to send out to friends for Christmas. I know I would love to receive one like this!

Happy Turkey Day

This Tom Turkey looks a bit frightened holding his sign. My husband thought the sign should say, "Eat more ham." The image is a digi stamp from Pink Cat Studio. They have such cute stamps that are extremely reasonable that you can instantly download after you purchase them. He was printed on slick white card stock, colored using Copic markers and put together on a card made with - you guessed it - Bo Bunny's Christmas Tis The Season line, and finished with ribbon and snap embellishments. Isn't he just the cutest thing??

If you have never tried Copic markers...you should! Beware - the first time you try them...you'll be hooked just like I am! They are wonderful to work with, blend extremely well, and dry acid free. They can be a bit pricey but well worth the investment. I have included a picture of the markers I used on this card.

MOJO Monday - Be Jolly!

I finally broke out and participated in this weeks Mojo Monday Challenge which was perfect for me to highlight this cute little Santa. I began with a red card stock background, then added a variety of Bo Bunny's - Tis The Season paper (I just LOVE this paper and just about anything Bo Bunny produces!). The Santa stamp was purchased in a four-pack at Hobby Lobby with no particular stamp company's marking on the actual wooden block. I stamped him using black Memento ink, colored him with Copic markers and then used white Liquid Applique for the "fur" areas. I stamped the "Be Jolly" stamp using Color Box's Lipstick Red chalk ink, circle punched it out and then pop dotted it on to a scalloped background (also from Bo Bunny). The ribbon is from Offrey and the white dots at each corner of the card are from Crystal Stickers (Glitter Dome) - purchased also at Hobby Lobby. Thanks for looking!

Christmas Bird

Happy Monday! I am loving the fall weather we are experiencing here in Jacksonville but I feel it is short lived. We are supposed to be back up in the 80's by Friday - bummer!

I have a Christmas card to share with you today. The image is a digi download from the DigiStamp Boutique. They have such cute, cute, images that can be downloaded on to your computer instantly and then printed and colored by you.

I colored the image with my Copic markers and highlighted a few areas using Stickles Star Dust, cut and corner rounded the top corners, then added the scalloped boarder at the bottom. The printed paper is made by Basic Grey's Christmas line called Eskimo Kisses. The ribbon I used is from an old stash which was taken off the spool a long time ago for storage purposes. I punched the snowflakes using Martha Stewart's snowflake punch and then covered them with glitter. White brads were used to embellish the corners of the card.

Creative Cat!

While I was working on a card...guess who decided to butt in? My cat, Simba, thinks he rules the nest and was very insistent on laying on TOP of my project! He usually lays on whatever I am working on just so he can get all the attention. I thought you would enjoy the post.

Elf Feet

Today, I am sharing a couple of cards that I made last week using my paper piecing abilities. I began paper piecing about 12 or so years ago when I taught at a local scrapbook store. Decorative chalk is used as my medium to shade and highlight the items I piece together.

The "Elf Feet" were an inspiration from Bo Bunny's "Tis The Season" Christmas line, but instead of using the elf feet sticker, I make the feet.

Well...Here Goes!

Today, I ventured out to my own crafting blog - "Pamie-K's Creative Korner". After months and months of looking at other blogs, I decided that today would be the day to post my first creation - good, bad, or ugly. I have to begin somewhere, right?

Painting was my first love, then came scrapbooking which included photography, now rubber stamping. The wonder of it all is that I can incorporate all of my interests into one. Creating something gives me such pleasure.

I was first introduced to Copic markers while we were living in Anchorage, Alaska, over the summer. I took a stamp class at The Stamp Attic and fell in love with the way the markers blended on the paper. I slowly began collecting the markers and will continue to collect them for a very long time, especially since there are so many colors! A Copic Certified Designer class will be offered in Miami in January which I am hoping to be able to attend.

Since we moved back to Florida in September, I have begun to create again (it has been a very long time since I have actually had the extra time to do this). It has been so much fun and I am learning something new every day. Of course, there are numerous items that I will add to my collection of tools, stamps, and Copics.

For my first post, I have designed a "goodie bag" for some friends that I will see tomorrow night at a scrapbooking crop. I watched a video on Jennifer McGuire's blog (called, "Stamped Candy Bag") that she created for Hero Arts. I have been a fan of Jennifer for years and hope to actually meet her in person one day - but until then...her blog is the closest I can get to learning from her. If you watch Jennifer's video, you will see how the candy bag will fit into the card.

I stamped the image on the white Bee Paper then added a bit of Tea Dye Distress Ink around the image. I then began to color in the image using my Copic Markers. After cropping the image to a square, I adhered it to the background paper.
